Artist Statement
This large jar is part of a series of work that I have titled “Heard Mentality”. Many of the works combine human features or forms combined with animal heads. This piece in particular is of a Bison wearing a corporate business suit. “Heard Mentality” is a play on words referencing herd mentality and is about group behavior. Both the Bison and the corporate suit are seen as symbols of power depending on who you ask. This sculpture is a clash of power/struggle, emotional/rational, strength/fragility, and the natural world/human world.
