Artist Statement
This piece was part of a bigger installation I did utilizing 40 of these panels, with five different butterflies. Each piece is made of collaged image transfers of random maps, and other mixed media, with a block printed butterfly attached and hand painted. This is about the loss of habitat butterflies and other insects are facing from human encroachment. Note: St. Francis’s Satyr is an endangered butterfly found in a small area of North Carolina.
