Holly Tripp
Missoula, MT
Exhibit Year: 2023-2024
About the Artist
Holly’s creativity begins with a seed. As a hard-shell gourd artist, it takes one full year before an agricultural crop of woody, hard-shelled vessels are ready for her to craft and sculpt into beautiful, one-of-a-kind gourd luminaries. Her approach to sculpting light using the 3D canvas of hard-shell gourds is influenced by years of daily meditation, mindfulness, and her love of the natural world.
Holly earned a BFA in Photography from Montana State University and pursued a second degree in Photojournalism from University of Montana. Her work has been nationally published, exhibited, displayed, and sold in solo, group, and juried art shows.
Holly Tripp is an MT Open AIR Artist.
Artist Statement
Sculpting and harnessing light is something I have been doing for three decades as a multifaceted visual artist. Creating art is a Spiritual experience for me and one that is fostered by my love of nature and the natural world. Nature consistently reminds me that I, too, am in a constant state of flow; changing, evolving, learning, and growing with purpose both personally and professionally. To that end, I don’t limit myself to one art form.
