Janaina Vieira-Marques
About the Artist
Janaína Vieira-Marques is a Brazilian-American visual artist and art educator who has called Missoula, MT home for over 10 years. Her career has spanned various art forms—film, visual, installation and performance and a multi-cultural awareness that she brings into classrooms as arts integration and arts enhancement programs. Janaína began her career in São Paulo, Brazil as a graphic designer and then as a film producer for an international agency where she produced over 60 commercials for large Brazilian companies. As a visual artist in Washington, D.C in 2006-2007 and Missoula since 2008, she has collaborated with light designers, choreographers and dancers on installation and site-specific pieces and exhibited her own work in galleries and art spaces. Janaína founded the Missoula Mandala Project in 2008 and created a community-supported site-specific art installation 6 different years during the Day of the Dead Festival in downtown Missoula, MT. She is currently teaching art at Sussex School.
