Kara Tripp
Artist Statement
My first painting inspiration was a group of Suffolk sheep gathered on a hillside. Sheep are a reoccurring theme in my work, as well as my “city” chickens. My style is impressionistic, bold, and colorful. I often paint with a palette knife, pulling “bands” of color through with each stroke. My contemporary presentation and painting style at a twist to traditional subject matter.
I am a Bozeman, MT native and as a child I spent my summers traveling with my father to his art shows. He encouraged me to try oils and I’ve been hooked ever since that first sheep painting.
