Lauren Grabelle
About the Artist
Originally from NJ, I moved to Montana to heal the wounds that are created by living in the most densely populated state and being so isolated from nature. My photography falls in the matrix where fine art and documentary meet, where I can tell truths about our relationships to other people, animals, nature, and ourselves. My work is about empathy.
My work has been shown in galleries across the country and Europe, and in September 2018 in Dubai, UAE. It has been featured in print and online in Harper’s Magazine, The New York Times, Virginia Quarterly Review, Humble Arts Foundation, Der Grief, Lenscratch, World Photo Organization, and others.
I am an Adobe Stock Premium contributor and a photo editor for The Whitefish Review. I am also a board member of the Community Association for North Shore Conservation – organizing to preserve the wildness and wondrousness of Flathead Lake.
Artist Statement
In mid-March right as the pandemic was taking hold I moved onto a remote ranch with my partner in NW Montana. For the past three months I have been isolating with more animals than humans, and with the time to get to know them, and vice versa.
