Artist Statement
Paper, willow, and cottonwood boats, drawn vessels on wood panel, and tied cane constructions that constitute my current body of work are connected by concerns with the interaction of interior and exterior spaces, grid systems and forms that simultaneously contain and release, meditatively repetitive patterns of drawn lines and tied cane, willow, and cottonwood “lines”, and passages through visual and conceptual space. Just as importantly, the work reflects my love of form, texture, and color originating from a lifelong observation of and delight in the natural world.
